E-Learning Assignment

SHOWCASE WEBSITE IS DUE THIS FRIDAY

Follow these guidelines to set up showcase website in Weebly:

  1. Go to Weebly (or another web authoring tool) and create an account. Use your professional gmail address and password so it is easy to remember. Select a free URL that includes your brand name
    • A consistent, professional brand name across platforms helps you stay memorable:
      • CoraBak2.weebly.com
      • CoraBak2@gmail.com
      • Twitter.com/CoraBak2
  2. Add pages for Home, About, Contact, Portfolio
  3. Add content to the Home page
    • Make your name stand out
    • Add a button to link to your About page
    • Include your personal statement
    • Consider creating a welcome video for this page

  1. Create an About page with your professional picture, activities, and honors
    • School, Extracurricular Activities, Volunteering, Honors & Awards
    • Skills & Languages
      • What programs and/or applications would you say you are proficient at?  
      • What computer skills do you have to offer at this point in your career?
      • Soft skills developed
        • Include information on soft skills you developed thus far such as communication, time management, collaboration, etc.  Check out a list of soft skills HERE.
    • Add pictures that relate to the different activities
    • Consider adding an About Me Video

  1. Create a Contact page with links to Gmail, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger, (and LinkedIn if you are at least 16 yrs old)
    • Use images as links to your professional social media accounts
    • Consider creating a video that explains your brand name
  2. Create a Portfolio page with links to examples of your work
    • Performance videos
      • plays, sports, concerts, speeches, service projects, etc...
    • Evidence of your writing
    • School projects of which you are proud

Day 67: Final Presentation

Summative Test Wednesday
Prepare Final Presentation for Thursday

  • prepare to deliver your final presentation on either your career research or personal brand.... you won't be perfect
  • keep these tips in mind:
    • have a hook
    • introduce yourself
    • state your topic
    • keep it simple, get to the point
    • don't read from the board
    • limit "ums" and "ands"
    • don't touch your face or hair
    • project your voice
    • smile
    • be conversational, speak naturally

            • Creating a list of your Network of Contacts:
              • What kind of people do you have your network?
              • The goal is establish quality relationships with others in your industry that you can potentially leverage, and create visibility for yourself.

            • Complete daily practice in Typing Club using proper technique (remember to focus on how you type, not how well). Work on one lesson for 5 to 10 minutes repeatedly, each day

            • Download a copy of the PencilCode guide  (with the down arrow) and upload it and move it to your Computer Coding folder.
              • Work on completing each of the assignments beginning on page 9 of the guide

                • Success Skills
                • Touch Typing
                • Computer Parts
              • Email Format
                • short descriptive subject in initial caps
                • formal greeting and closing
                • proper spelling and grammar (punctuation, capitalization, etc...)
                • pleasantry and thank you
                • use bullets and text emphasis where appropriate
