Day 37: Even More Presentation Practice

Presentation Practice
  • Today, you will stand in the front of the room and introduce yourself to the class in a friendly, clear, projected voice
    • First, greet the class 
      • "Hi everybody"
    • Then, introduce yourself:
      • "My name is Michael Haworth"
      • "I am a teacher here at West Leyden"
      • tell them something about yourself
    • Finally, thank the audience:
      • "Thank you"
    • Try to avoid
      • "Umm"
      • "And"
      • fidgeting
    • Try to
      • make eye contact
      • connect with the audiance
      • sound natural
      • project your voice
      • speak slowly
      • sound friendly
Presentation Skills:
  • Presenting information clearly and effectively is a key skill in almost every field
    • Beginning March 7th, you will be presenting one of your Person, Place, or Thing Presentations to the class
      • We will be practicing presentation skills between now and then
  • Top Tips for Effective Presentations.
    • connecting with your audience
    • importance of voice and body language 
    • tips about preparing slide-shows
  • Only use visual aids if they are necessary to maintain interest and assist comprehension

  • Add your professional photo to all of your accounts
    • Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, Weebly, Blogger, YouTube
  • If you have not done so already, make a copy of this helpful document and start preparing for your future by:
    • Creating your Resume
    • Preparing a general Cover Letter
    • Creating a list of your Network of Contacts:
      • What kind of people do you have your network?
      • The goal is establish quality relationships with others in your industry that you can potentially leverage, and create visibility for yourself.
