Day 38: Practice Your Presentation

Presentation Practice
  • Today, you will stand in the front of the room and practice giving your presentation in a friendly, clear, projected voice TURN IT IN NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY
    • First, greet the class "Hi everybody"
    • Then, introduce yourself and your project:
      • "My name is..."
      • "My presentation is about"
      • tell them about your topic
    • Finally, thank the audience: "Thank you"
    • Try to avoid
      • "Umm"
      • "And"
      • fidgeting
      • reading from the screen
    • Try to
      • be excited about your topic
      • make eye contact
      • connect with the audiance
      • sound natural
      • project your voice
      • speak slowly
      • sound friendly
Email Review:
  • Review the Email Guidelines Presentation
  • Email Practice #4
    • Complete the Practice Email #4 Assignment with a partner:
      • Compose a properly formatted, professional e-mail to your partner that describes three of the presentation tips you've learned in class.
        • short descriptive subject in initial caps
        • formal greeting and closing with proper punctuation
        • message that is short and to-the-point
          • include text emphasis where appropriate
          • proper spelling and grammar (punctuation, capitalization, etc...)
    • Use the Email Checklist to proof your email
    • Review each other's emails for proper email format
  • Be prepared for the Email Test in Two Days

  • Add your professional photo to all of your accounts
    • Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, Weebly, Blogger, YouTube
  • If you have not done so already, make a copy of this helpful document and start preparing for your future by:
    • Creating your Resume
    • Preparing a general Cover Letter
    • Creating a list of your Network of Contacts:
      • What kind of people do you have your network?
      • The goal is establish quality relationships with others in your industry that you can potentially leverage, and create visibility for yourself.
