Day 16: Personal Brand Presentation

Personal Brand
    • start simple and build from there
    • you can always go back and make it "better"
    • this Personal Brand Checklist might help you stay on track
  • If you have not done so already, make a copy of this helpful document and start preparing for your future by:
    • Creating your Resume
    • Preparing a general Cover Letter
    • Creating a list of your Network of Contacts:
      • What kind of people do you have your network?
      • The goal is establish quality relationships with others in your industry that you can potentially leverage, and create visibility for yourself. 



Personal Brand Checklist:
Your presentation should include the following slides.

When you are creating your presentation remember to think about the elements of design:
____ Keep it Simple
  • use bullet point statements
  • no complete sentences
  • eliminate unimportant words
  • consider using images instead of text
____ effective image use
  • where possible, use high quality photographic images to deliver your message
____ 5 by 5 Rule
  • no more than 5 words per line
  • no more than 5 lines per slide
____ make it look good
  • simple fonts
____ balance “white-space”
  • use eye-pleasing, contrasting color
____ consider text emphasis
  • bold
  • italics
  • underline
  • color
  • size
  • font style
____ be consistent

Twitter Account Checklist:
____ Engaging Banner Image
Follow:

____ Follow people or companies related to your social media campaign
Create:
____ favorite, retweet, and reply to each other to improve your digital footprints
____ post something about your social media campaign, using your hashtag
____ post something positive
____ promote a school event
____ @ mention anyone related to your tweet
____ favorite and retweet others that you follow
Add value online:
____ retweet with a value add comment
____ tweet links to relevant articles, videos, or websites
____ use pictures to enhance your message
____ create interactive polls


LinkedIn Profile

  • Create a LinkedIn Account
  • Complete the basic information
  • Upload a professional picture
  • Update your public profile settings to create a custom URL for your profile
  • Create a link to your LinkedIn profile from your Weebly website
  • Write your LinkedIn summary




Showcase Website / Digital Portfolio

Log into your Weebly account


Add pages for Home, About, Contact, Portfolio


Add content to the Home page
  • Make your name stand out
  • Add a button to link to your About page
  • Include your personal statement
  • Consider creating a welcome video for this page
Create an About page with your professional picture, activities, and honors
  • School
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Volunteering
  • Skills & Languages
    • What programs and/or applications would you say you are proficient at?  
    • What computer skills do you have to offer at this point in your career?
    • Soft skills developed 
      • Include information on soft skills you developed thus far such as communication, time management, collaboration, etc.  Check out a list of soft skills HERE.
  • Honors & Awards
  • Add pictures that relate to the different activities
  • Consider adding an About Me Video
Create a Contact page with links to Gmail, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger, and LinkedIn
  • Use images as links to your professional social media accounts
  • Consider creating a video that explains your brand name
Create a Portfolio page with links to examples of your work


  • Performance videos
    • plays, sports, concerts, speeches, service projects, etc...
  • Evidence of your writing
  • School projects of which you are proud
  • Add your professional photo to all of your accounts
    • Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, Weebly, Blogger, YouTube
